NOTE: This will be part of the Never Letting Go series

Review:

I think that there is so much more to the story than you get from the synopsis and I enjoyed it.  It was filed with emotion, suspense, drama, and romance.

Adam and Sophia had been best friends from the time they were in diapers until tragedy struck.  Sophia has a personal tragedy and it caused her to spin out of control.  Adam couldn't handle watching her self-destruct so he walked away from her and their friendship. Four years later Sophia is in college and Adam walks into her classroom.  You walk through the fear and anxiety she feels as she reconnects with Adam.

Along with Adam Sophia reconnects with her other best friends Erin her best friend from college and Connor who is Adams brother.  I love the way Sophia blossoms and gains strength from her friends.  They are a tight group that is always there for her and she needs the support system.  Throughout the book there are many intense situations that test Sophia and her relationship with Adam as well as the rest of the group.  I’m going to leave it at that because I don’t want to give anything away ;)

This book is written from Sophia’s POV and I felt like I was looking into her diary and reading about her life.  At times I feel like she was too much in her head and she was over-thinking everything.  However, I did feel as if I could feel her love, fear, and anxiety as I was reading.  Feeling how she did made me route for her and fear along with her and smile at the romantic moments.

There is sooo much more to this story that I can’t share with you without spoiling it for you.  I say grab it and see if Adam and Sophia can get past their friendship and all of the challenges that keep coming between then and see if they have their happily ever after.

Love Realized by Melanie Codina Blog Tour

Blurb:

For Jake, it’s always been Gillian. It’s been her since that day she unknowingly stole a piece of his heart...when he watched her fall for one of his best friends. Resolved to the fate that she couldn't be his, he locked up the deeper emotions he felt for her and loved her as a friend.

As friends, they went through it all together. Marriages, births, divorces and even death. But when a shameful secret Gillian has kept from her friends is revealed, Jake realizes she needs him more than ever. He knew what it was like to go through heartbreak and he wasn't about to stand back and watch her endure it alone.

He also knew she would turn to him for support. What he wasn't prepared for was the return of the emotions he had long ago locked away. Could he control those emotions again and did he even want to? Could he make her realize his love for her was real, or would she slip through his fingers again?

Review:
I really do not know what I would do if I found out my husband was having an affair.  He better never have one!  Hrmf...I can't say the same for Gillian though.  Her stupid husband decides he can't just have one woman who worships the ground he walks on and gives him 3 children, two boys and a girl.  He's the only man she's ever been with.  She got pregnant at 17. She wouldn't marry him until she finished high school and made sure they were good together.

So...let's fast forward.  Jake, Gillian's best male friend, has loved her since they were teens.  He's the one who pointed her out to her husband.  He's always compared his dates to Gillian.  Even his exwife was subject to that scrutiny.  When he found out how badly Gillian's husband screwed up...it was all he could do to give her enough time to "get over it" before he acted on his feelings.

I will have to say that Jake and Gillian are absolutely perfect for one another.  Perfect.  That doesn't mean they'll see it though.  Gillian's getting threatening messages.  Her husband's truck is vandalized while she's at dinner with him one evening deciding who's getting what.  Oh..so I didn't mention that Gillian is a nurse in a hospital, the same hospital Jake serves as an EMT.  All their dreams come crashing to reality the day one decides Gillian's life is no longer important.

Melanie Codina has done a fantastic job writing this story and her characters pov's are so real I felt like I was inside the story instead of just reading it.  This is one of those books I just couldn't put down.  I had to know what happened next.  I think I stayed up until 2:30 am reading it just to finish!

Check out this excerpt and I hope you'll see what I mean:

As he climbed the steps of the porch, he could hear music blaring from inside, which made him smile. Gillian loved to blare her music.

Knowing she wouldn’t hear him if he knocked, not that he wasn’t accustomed to walking right in anyway, he made his way inside. Following the sound to the kitchen, he found Gillian looking adorable in a pair of yoga pants and a tank top. Her long brown hair was piled on top of her head in a messy concoction of curls and swirled colors, exposing her bare neck to him. He could smell the scent of food baking in the oven, and it filled him with warmth knowing that she prepared it for him. Since her back was to him, she still hadn’t noticed he was there as she worked at washing vegetables in the sink. He was about to make his presence known when she started moving her hips in time with the music she was blaring, and Jake’s body jumped in awareness.

He stood there for moment and absorbed the sight of her dancing in the kitchen. It was sweet, and sexy, and a complete turn on. Hell, lately, just seeing her breathe was a turn on. He wanted to just press his body against hers and envelope her in his arms, but didn’t want to scare her since she hadn’t noticed his presence. Reaching over, he turned down the music, slowly, so as not to surprise her, but just enough to get her to notice and turn around. This had the desired effect because she glanced over her shoulder at the radio to see what was wrong. Her eyes landed on him, and she startled a bit before a big smile spread across her face at the sight of him. Seeing her reaction to him was like a drug to his system, and the warmth and heady sensation of her excitement spread. Oh, he knew she had always enjoyed his company, but now he could see the difference. He could see that he had moved past friends with her, and he was definitely okay with that.

He didn’t want to wait another second, and he smiled back and made his way toward her. She was still busy in the sink as his hands found her waist, and his lips found her cheek. “Hey there sexy. I’m sorry if I startled you,” he said while his hands ventured forward from her waist to gently pull her body against his. She went willingly and sighed as her body relaxed against him, like it was the only place in the world she wanted to be. Again that heady feeling of satisfaction spread through him. He knew for certain there was no other place in the world he wanted to be either.

“It’s okay. I'm just wondering how long you were standing there and if you happened to bear witness to my horrible singing skills?” she said a little breathlessly as he pressed soft kisses to her bare shoulder and neck. His need was rising, and the desire to make her completely his was a living, breathing being inside of him. He was about to tell her that he unfortunately missed that part of the show when he suddenly felt his body pulled away from hers—flying backward. Jake felt his ass hit the ground with a thud as he tried to shake the confusion that surrounded him at what was going on. He saw Gillian spin around and surprise register on her face. Jake looked up only to see Logan standing over him, red faced and furious.
It took Jake a moment to gather what was going on as Logan proceeded to reach down and grab Jake’s shirt to yank him back off the ground while growling at him, “Get your fucking hands off of my wife!” The adrenaline started to pump through Jake’s body when he heard Logan say my wife, because that certainly wasn’t the case anymore.

Author Bio:

Melanie is an amazing mother of four, an awesome and tolerant wife to one, and nurse to many. If you don’t believe her, just ask anyone in her family, they know what to say. She is also a devoted chauffeur, the keeper of missing socks, a genius according to a six year old, the coolest soccer uniform coordinator according to a twelve year old, and the best damn ‘mac-n-cheese-with-cut-up-hot-dog maker in the whole world. Well that last title isn’t really official, but it’s still pretty cool to be called it.

When not being ordered around by any of the kids, you can find her with her nose in a book or on the sideline of a soccer game cheering on one team or another. But that’s mostly because she has a thing for the coach. When she is not doing all of the above, you can find her obsessed with a group of fictional characters all vying for a spot on the page of whatever she’s working on. It’s a fun and crazy life to lead, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

King Hall by Scarlett Dawn Cover Reveal

A fresh, meaty, sink-your-teeth-in-and-hold-on-tight new adult fantasy series kicks off with King Hall…

King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing: survival. Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings. Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Prodigies: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the revolution.

• Scarlett resides in the Midwest with her husband, three children, and two dogs.

I received an ARC from this author and this is by far my FAVORITE book of 2013 so far.  Check out this awesome cover....which will be explained as you read the book.

Book Description:
Paige Stone lived anything but a normal childhood. Having been raised around an abused women's shelter operated by her parents, Paige was a constant witness to the tragedy and heartache suffered by women at the hands of the men they trusted. Out of refusal to ever allow that to happen to her,... Paige built walls around her heart at a young age. Those walls were only fortified when tragedy struck on her sixth birthday and took from her the only friend and love she knew. Now at 22 years old, and working as a private investigator, Paige is driven by a deep need for strength, independence and a stubborn refusal to accept help from another person. Surrounding herself with her three best friends, Paige never assumed that the autonomy she had worked so hard to build could be challenged.

That was, until Paige met Daemon Pierce.

Mysterious, strong-willed, and breathtakingly beautiful, Daemon seemed to instantly know Paige better than she knew herself. Paige is disgusted by Daemon's reputation as a womanizer, but becomes intrigued when she is unable to discover his background. Paige's curiosity about Daemon proves to be her downfall as she is swept up in his charming and arrogant pursuit to possess her in every possible way.

For the first time in her life, Paige will struggle for control while Daemon slowly dismantles the walls she has built around herself. Only time will tell who will be victorious in their battle of wills as Daemon teaches Paige the weaknesses within herself that she never knew existed. Paige stays one step ahead in her struggle against Daemon's controlling ways, but when tragedy strikes her life a second time, she has to choose; will she put her life in danger, or will she finally accept a helping hand?

***Content Warning - This is a new adult fiction with mature themes. It contains graphic sexual situations, mature language and explicit description of sexual violence.***

Book Review:
As I said at the top of the page CONTROL is my favorite book of 2013 thus far.  This is the authors first ever release.  I swear this is a NY Times Best Seller.

As stated above Paige she grew up in a home where her parents sheltered abused women and their children.  She was determined to keep the walls she built over her heart after her closest friend and first love was suddenly removed from her life after a tragic event.  She's a PI and after meeting Daemon Pierce she can't find any information on him past the last 5 years.  Which is not totally strange givin his age.  Daemon seems to know how to read Paige just right.  He can tell when she's holding something back, when she's feeling upset about something, and when she's really wanting him while running from him.

Daemon notices a tattoo Paige has on her left shoulder.  Instantly she feels him stiffen as he asks her about it.  It's a reminder of someone she loved and lost.  Why Paige feels the need to share all her secrets with Daemon is confusing to her.  She can feel her walls start to melt the more time she spends with him.

Oh, and did you see in the description that Daemon is a womanizer?  Paige has been warned several times to stay away from him.  Being the great PI she is she tries to go undercover to the bar he owns while he's working to see if she can find if Daemon is true to his word or if everyone's right about his love 'em and leave 'em ways.  This is probably one of the best scenes in the book.  These two are just too cute together.

So of course you know I've left out a huge part of the story and only focused on Daemon and Paige here.  There's lots of drama included in this story.  A friend of Paige who is a friend with benefits that's in love with her.  She does not reciprocate the feelings.  A gay male roommate, a female roommate who's always attracted to the wrong man.  This attraction may cause Paige and her friends their lives!

What will happen to Paige and Daemon?  Someone wants Paige dead...will he be found and arrested?  Will her friends survive?

My opinion:
How many books do you read that you feel completely absorbed into the book?  Control was like that for me.  The instant I started reading this book I couldn't put it down.  I mean, really.  It has one thing after another in there and I wanted to know all the secrets.  The author has the right amount of suspense, romance, and fellowship in the book.  I'm already jonesin' for the second book.  Last year my favorite book of the year was Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.  It has lots of social "no no's" people don't like to talk about.  Well, Control has a bit of that with the shelter, murder, love, sex, stalking, friendship highs and lows, rape, angst, and Alpha Male control.  I felt all of Paige's emotions.  I sympathized with her.  I love her.  I'm on Team Daemon!

I promise you will not be disappointed by this book.  If you are....I don't know what to say as I think it's freakin' fantastic!!

Out of 5 stars, I give Control a 10!

Dark Dawn by Melissa Brodsky & Nicole Andrews Moore Blog Tour

New Adult Version:
For Mature Readers:

Blurb:

In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth, and everything in between. The In-between was unplanned, unexpected, and unwelcome. Every action causes a reaction and when mankind was born, so were the Fae. Suddenly it was up to Heaven to save Earth. God created Angels to right his wrong, to save human kind. A deal was made, an agreement of sorts. The Angels would protect humanity from Fae domination and destruction, and in return they would have inhuman strength and immortality. Thus a time of angels swooping in to save humans from free will, bad decisions, and big mistakes began. They protected humans from the Fae who intentionally enslaved them, leaving shells of humans, or worse, leaving nothing at all.

Even God doesn’t always learn from mistakes. Angels were given freedom of choice. Some Angels chose wrong. When some of them spread their wings, they went too far, and just as Icharus was punished for getting too close to the sun, they were punished for getting too close to mankind.

So they fell. Falling was the easy part.

Review:
If you're a Christian you might have a little trouble reading this story as it's completely different and contrary to the Bible.  I know this is a work of fiction, however, it still bothered me.  :-)  Satan suddenly became the Fae and there was only one original angel who God made an additional 5 to help the first one fight against the Fae.  The angels were sent to earth to help defend the humans against the work of the Fae.  They didn't know how many Fae there were, but they were everywhere!  The angels had several rules put in place by God as to what they were allowed to do and not do against the Fae.  They felt God had abandoned them and they were trying to get rid of these Fae all by themselves.

I had a hard time with this book, to tell you the truth.  The writing isn't bad.  These authors are great.  The story didn't hit me well.  I suppose because it's contrary to everything I've been taught about God and his creations.  I just couldn't put that aside.  If you can, you will surely enjoy this book!!

Thank you Melissa & Nicole for the chance to read and review Dark Dawn for you.
