Driven by K. Bromberg

Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

I tell you what...there are so many great books being released in 2013 I can't keep up!  I kept seeing this sexy book cover for a book named Driven.  I'd looked at it a time or two but never fully decided to buy the book.  I was asked to share this book with my "fans" to help get the name out to more people.  So...I broke down and bought the book!

Guess what, I'm so glad I did.  This is one of those I didn't want to put down!  I had several things going on while I was reading it so they slowed my process but I tell you what...I stayed up late late late to finish it.

Rylee is a great example of how people can become shell's of themselves after traumatic events.  She hasn't dated for two years and doesn't have plans to date any time soon.  Enter Colton Donavan.  He's an arrogant, sure-footed, man of perfection, and he knows it.  He saves Rylee from being stuck in a closet and the immediate chemistry is enough to scorch anyone in the vicinity.  They have a serious make our session before Rylee returns to her senses and when she does, she runs.

Their relationship is a bit of a whirlwind.  He openly declares he doesn't do repeats, yet he wants that with Rylee.  He doesn't do romance, yet he shows her his romantic side time and time again.  He says he can't let her go, yet he pushes her time and time again.  I was so too caught in the web for this to be as annoying as it probably sounds here.  It was anything but.  I am firmly on Team Rylee.  She deserves to be happy and love someone.  She has so much to give.  Colton deserves the same, but does not want to work on his own demons so he can have it.  Yet, he seems to want to have it with Rylee.

Let me just say that the cliffhanger at the end is a "Oh, Shit!" or a "WTF?" moment.  I immediately messaged the author and told her I needed Fueled immediately!!!  OH boy, what an amazing book.

This excerpt below is a look into how much Colton wants Rylee and she's trying to keep her distance but his words lure her in each and every time...oh so sweet and sexy!

How can those words, so possessive, so dominantly male, make me want him that much more? I’m an independent, self-assured woman and yet hearing that this man—yes, Colton Donavan—inform me that he is going to have me without asking, without giving me a choice, makes me weak in the knees.

“It might not be tonight, Rylee. It might not be tomorrow night,” he promises, the rumbling timber of his voice vibrating through my body, “but it will happen.” My breath hitches as he pauses, allowing his words sink in before he continues. “Don’t you feel it, Rylee? This--” he says gesturing a hand between him and I, “this charge we have here? The electricity we have when we’re together is way too strong to ignore.” I lower my eyes, uncomfortable with his overconfidence yet turned on by his words. He takes a hand and reaches out, the spark he’s referring to igniting when his index finger trails up the underside of my neck to my chin. He pushes up to lift my chin so that I’m forced to stare into the depths of his eyes. “Aren’t you the least bit curious how good it will be? If it’s this electrifying with just the brush of our skin against each other, can you imagine what it will be like when I’m buried inside of you?”

The confidence in his words and the intensity of his stare nonpluses me, and I avert my eyes down again to focus on the ring I’m worrying around my right ring finger. The rational part of me knows that once Colton has his way with me, he’ll move on. And even though I’d know this going into it, I’d still be devastated in the end.

I just don’t want to go through it again. I’m afraid to feel again. Afraid to take a chance for the consequences before were life-altering for me. I use my fear to fuel my obstinance; no matter how wild of a ride, the inevitable fallout isn’t worth it to me.

“You’re so sure of yourself, do I even need to show up for the event?” I say haughtily, hoping my words cover for the deep ache he’s responsible for creating in my body. His only response to my question is a heart-stopping smirk. I shake me head at him, “Thanks for the warning, Ace, but no thanks.”

“Oh, Rylee,” he admonishes with a laugh. “There’s that smart mouth that I find so intriguing and sexy. It disappeared for a little while with your nerves. I was getting worried.” He reaches over and squeezes my hand. “Oh, and Ryles, just so you know, that wasn’t a warning, sweetheart. That was a promise.”
