Twist & Turn (The Twisted Trilogy #2) by Christa Simpson Cover Reveal

Abigail feared that she had given up on the love of her life, until she met the man of her dreams.

Abigail Jenkins was lucky enough to find one man that met all of her expectations.  Edwin Santora was that man, recklessly handsome and fun-loving, with a body carved from stone.  But it wasn't enough.  Abigail wanted a baby, and that matter was not up for debate.  Edwin, having just scored his first job out of law school, was nowhere near ready to settle down. Abigail was. Relationship over. Or was it?

Right when Abigail starts to realize that maybe Edwin was her best bet, Cameron Clarke, the man of her dreams, slips into her life, stealing her attention and her heart.  With swoon-worthy sunset-shaped eyes and a smile that lit up the darkest corners of her tragic youth, Abigail knew that he was the one.  Suddenly, Abigail finds that having a baby isn't at the top of her list of things to do. Cameron Clarke is.

Sparks begin to fly when Abigail gets what she wants and Edwin admits what he thinks about that; but is too little too late?

Twist & Turn will be available for purchase August 1, 2013.

A Lucky Second Chance by Nickie Seidler Blog Tour & Giveaway

Genre: Suspenseful Romance
Release Date: June 25, 2013
Blog Tour Host: Life with Lesley

Synopsis:

What do you do when life doesn't go as planned?

Nobody plans to be abused. Emma Dunn certainly didn't. When life with her fiance' takes a terrifying turn, she flees to her hometown of Chicago without looking back, and her brother Kevin takes her in. Life is slowly getting better for Emma, thanks in no small part to real-life Prince Charming, Nathan Weber. He sweeps her off her feet, almost literally, and dotes on her from day one.

But when the unexpected happens and their pasts catch up with them, can their fairy tale still have a happy ending?

Even the strongest can break. Love has the power to consume, but also has the power to break.

Review:
Let me start by saying abuse of any kind is nothing anyone should put up with.  If you're in a physically or verbally abusive relationship you are better than what your significant other is telling you and you need to believe in yourself enough to get out and move on.  The abuser needs help.  But like any other individual with issues, unless they're willing to deal with why they're abusive, there's no changing them.  Please know there are people willing to help you when you're ready to help yourself and your children, if you have them.  Links will be posted at the end.
OK....so...A Lucky Second Chance is the debut book of author Nickie Seidler.  Nickie has done a great job with giving an ugly social issue it's due in this novel.  Emma Dunn, the female lead, came to her senses one day after her, then fiance, beat her within an inch of no returning.  She fled and returned home to live with her brother until she could get her feet "on the ground."  Soon after her move and new job, she meets Nathan (Nate) Weber.  She has such a strong feeling of safety and attraction when she's around Nate.
Like most individuals, they both have their issues.  Emma struggles with telling or not telling Nate about her ex and the way he treated her.  After a few instances she finds she has to tell Nate in order to keep herself and him safe.
Nate has some cleaning to do himself.  His ex tries to worm her way back to Nate and it makes Emma doubt his love for her.
This book has a lot of social no no's....abuse, breaking & entering, fraud, theft, attempted murder.  Can Emma and Nate trust each other and their love  for one another?  Check out A Lucky Second Chance and see!

Excerpt:

“I'm sorry. I had to pinch you and make sure this moment was real.” I smiled up at him. “That was wonderful. I've felt the same way.” I was struck by another daze as his touch sent ripples of sensation down between my legs as he rubbed my back up and down. I ran my hand across his chest, feeling how tight his muscles were through his black dress shirt. “I don't know how to say this, because we don’t even know one another, but please, don't leave me.”

As if he completely understood me, he kissed me again, ever so gently on my lips.

“I won’t go, I want to get to know you, Emma.” He ran his fingers through my hair.
“You may not like what you get to know.” A tear fell down my cheek.

“Let me take that risk,” he whispered. Then tenderly, he kissed my forehead.

“Come on, let’s go get some coffee. You like coffee, right?” He grinned.

“I love coffee. I need coffee.” I chuckled.

Fallen Crest Family by Tijan

Blurb:
Samantha and Mason are together. Everyone knows it. Not everyone is dealing with it. While Mason’s ready to give them the middle finger, there’s one not going away. Her mother. Threats are issued. Ultimatums are given. Even blackmail is used, but only Samantha can put a stop to Analise. However, when a trauma from her past is triggered, she may not have the courage or strength to do what’s needed. If she doesn’t, Mason’s future could be destroyed.

Review:
If you remember your high schools days you might say they were filled with drama. That's certainly true in this case of Fallen Crest Family. However, the drama was brought on by the parents not the high school students themselves. What a switch, huh? If you have not read Fallen Crest High you should read that first as you'll be totally lost reading Falling Crest Family. It is not a stand alone book.

I "stumbled" across FCH (Fallen Crest High) last year and thought I'd check it out. It turned out to be a pretty awesome story. So much so I have been waiting for Fallen Crest Public (FCP) to follow up with FCH. FCF (Fallen Crest Family) would be described as book 1.5 for me. This takes place in the summer months between the school year. Samantha has to decide where she's going to school in the fall. Will she continue at Fallen Crest Academy, where she's been attending, or will she follow her boyfriend, his brother, and friends to Fallen Crest Public?

As mentioned above, the parents of these high schooolers were the ones causing such havoc in this book. Sam's mom to be more specific. Analise didn't like that she didn't have control over Sam anymore and that Sam would rather go to Mason with her problems than her mom. It's no wonder, I wouldn't go to my mom either if she used my issues against me just like Sam's mom does. Analise also thinks she can, and has, picked Sam's friends for her in the past. This is no longer the case.

Analise shows her true colors during this story. I'm hoping James (Mason's dad; Analise's fiance) will get a clue and leave the woman high and dry but it doesn't seem like he will.

I thought this book was great, as usual. Tijan has portrayed the characters well and has even brought crazy into a new light with Analise.

There are sweet moments in this book as well with Mason and Samantha. They are the "perfect couple." Of course it takes a bit for the guys of FCP to accept Samantha, and the girls all hate her. Sam knows if she decides to attend FCP next school year she'll have her work cut out for her since Mason is only attending the fall semester then he graduates.

As you may remember, high school girls are vicious. They're out for blood, and Samantha is the target.

Check the Fallen Crest series out! You will not be disappointed!

.
Want to know more about Aiden? Well, there is no one better to tell us than Keatyn herself.  Let's see what she thinks about one of Aiden's best attributes...one of his very special talents......kissing.
Pretty soon we are stuck at the very top of the Ferris wheel, looking down at the pretty lights.  He says, “Boots.” I raise my head up, and that’s when he kisses me.  A slow, perfect, time-stood-still, fireworks-in-my-eyes kind of kiss. And it was just a little kiss. No open mouths, no tongues; just a kiss.  A little teeny kiss.  Holy shit.  I’m in love with him...Stalk Me by Jillian Dodd.
He leads me out of the party and across the hall, opens the door to an empty dorm room, turns on a lamp, then gently pushes me up again the door and kisses me.  Again, it's a slow, soft, amazing kiss that makes me feel like he's kissing my soul.  Kiss Me by Jillian Dodd
“Don’t fight me anymore.”  I don’t get to reply. His lips quickly close the gap between his and mine.  All of a sudden, there is a huge clap of thunder and a bolt of lightening hits a tree not far from us. Rain starts coming down in buckets.  Aiden pulls me up off the ground and we laugh at how soaked we both instantly are.  And there in the pouring rain, I get The. Best. Kiss. Of. My. Entire. Life.  And I’m pretty sure with this kiss, he branded me. Seared his initials into my skin.  Like bite marks from a vampire. I'm his.  Love Me by Jillian Dodd.
If you are not already convinced, get ready to swoon, because the Hottie God himself is going to tell us his idea of the perfect date with Keatyn:
If I could take her anywhere on a date, I'd take her to our house in Napa Valley. We'd eat dinner outside, watch the sunset, drink a little wine. Then I'd take her down to the gazebo that is lit with twinkle lights and dance with her. When we dance it's like the rest of the world ceases to exist. My arms wrapped around her. Her body pressed against mine. The way her hair always smells like cotton candy. Whispering in her ear. And, of course, kissing. Lots of kissing.
Thanks for supporting Aiden!

Brody. Sexy, hot, and irresistible. He could tear down her carefully built walls.

Note from Stephanie:
I started reading this book and my emotions got the better of me so I asked Laura if she would read/review it for me since I couldn't get myself together in time for this review to be due.  I have and interview w/ Sydney below the review though.

Review by Laura:
“I know enough to know that I’d like to kiss you right now. To know that if I do, it won’t be nearly enough.”  ~Brody

I like to jump into book blind most of the time.  I usually don’t read the synopsis and with some of them I have an idea of the storyline I may hear from word of mouth or people talking about them being good online.  That was the case with this book.  Stephanie asked me to do the review and told me it was about a girl who meets two boys and has to choose between them.  Well, she was right that is what the book is about and from the beginning I knew which one she was going to choose.  I read along waiting for her to realize herself what she wanted and do the right thing.  I got caught up in her relationships with these guys and how she was finding herself being away from home.  Then I was blindsided by the deeper part of this story and taken into a full on ugly cry.   I had no idea that this was an ugly cry book but after the tears cleared and I was really glad that it was.  The story was good when she was trying to decide between the two but the twist and the pain in the story took it to a whole new level.  I feel it really needed the depth to set it apart from other love triangle books.  This book is romantic, a little steamy, heartbreaking, and inspiring.

This passage is unedited and subject to change.

I am trying to force my feet to move when someone puts their hands on my shoulders and spins me around. Brody.
“I’m dying inside, Quince. Dying.” He is so close to me, I can feel his breath on my face. “My heart breaks every time you give a piece of yourself to him.”
“Brody, don’t.” I almost shout, desperate to escape his knowing eyes. I try to pull away, but he holds on tighter.
“Please! Please listen to me. You’ve never given me the chance to say anything, and now you are going to listen.” His voice penetrates the fog surrounding me. “Quince, I want to be the person you run to. I want to be the one you trust when the darkness falls. I want to know your dreams, and I want to breathe the air you breathe. I want to be the one who makes you smile. I just want to be with you.” He takes a deep, ragged breath. “Just trust me, Quince! Trust me enough to be with me. Let me love you every day for the rest of your life.”
I back away, shaking my head. “No.” I can’t breathe. My legs are weak. I don’t know if they’ll carry me, but I push away and walk past him. Forcing myself not to run, I panic. What if he follows me?
I don’t hear him, so I look over my shoulder. When my eyes meet his, he begs, “Fate brought us together, but God dammit, Quince! Make me your choice.”

Interview w/ Sydney Lane by Stephanie:

What’s your favorite line from any movie? Ah, yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it. ~ The Lion King

I've faced a lot of adversity in this lifetime, and I have found that you cannot outrun your past. It will always catch up to you. Embrace it, accept it, and you will overcome it.

You've just been hired to a promotions position at Kellog Co. What would you put in a new breakfast cereal box as a gimmick? A podometer - I'm all about getting my 10,000 steps in everyday!

If you could be a pair of jeans what style would you be?  Why? Relaxed fit - I am not stick thin, and I have a huge booty. I can't handle the super tight, form-fitting jeans that make me look like a stripper every time I bend over! And relaxed is something I'm not but wish I was!

You have multiple personalities, describe some of them. The dominating personality is a strict Type A with OCD and a severe case of anal renention. One of my lesser personalities is very funny, finding humor at the oddest times in the most inappropriate places. The last one is a mommy, wife, and daughter who just tries to get by.

What is the best thing you have done in your life? Having my children, of course! They have changed my life in ways I never believed were possible. Best. Thing. Ever.

What are your favorite hobbies? Like most of us, I love to read. Other than that, I love to spend time with my family. We like near a lake, and we can be found boating all summer long. I like to hang out and relax with my friends.

List five adjectives to describe yourself. Hmmmm.... funny, driven, short, talkative, obsessive

Name one of your favorite things about someone in your family. I have this funny little toe trick that I can do. I've never met anyone else who can do it.... until my oldest daughter came along! I love it!

Favorite place to eat? Cherokee Steakhouse in Tennessee

Favorite meal at favorite restaurant? Prime Rib and German potatoes

What's your favorite thing to do in the summer? Fall? Winter? Spring? In the Summer and Spring, my family can be found on our boat in Center Hill Lake. In the Fall, we love going to the pumpkin patch and picking out pumpkins with the kids. They go through the maze, and it is a highlight of the season. In the Winter, we love to play in the snow!

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why? Probably Ireland - I've always been enchanted with the history, architecture, and romanticism of Ireland. Now, the best beta reader ever lives there! I'd love to visit her!

If you could eliminate one thing from your daily schedule, what would it be and why? Shaving! I hate shaving! If I thought noone would care, I'd never shave again!

If you wake up as (name any famous personality), what's the first thing you would do? Prince Harry - WHATEVER I wanted! I love Prince Harry!

Name one funny trait you have, that you would like others to know. I don't know why people would care, but I put on my shoes before I put on my pants.

Thank you Sydney for stopping by and answering a few questions for our readers!

Playing with Fire by Ashley Piscitelli Teaser

I let the reality of what just happened sink in. What was I doing, I needed to be with Carter I should have never left him there tonight. I was weak and scared and I was letting fear run my life. I needed to be stronger, and I knew if I stayed with Chris he would eventually end up killing me. Could I put Carter at risk, though? He told me before he would always protect me I hope he meant it.
Chris was like fire. It was pretty to look at but if you got too close you got burnt, and if it wasn’t controlled it would destroy everything in its path. Doing what I was about to do with Carter was dangerous, but what can I say, I never had parents to warn me not to play with fire.
I waited another ten minutes just to be sure he was passed out then started putting my clothes on. I made my way outside and shut the door. FUCK! I forgot to grab my purse; I had no money, and no way to get to Carter’s house. I didn’t know anyone’s phone number so even if I found a
phone to use, I had no one to call. The only option was to walk and it was about four miles to Carter’s house.
I just prayed that when I got there he was home.
And that he still wanted me.

Excerpt:
“Claire is your ex-wife?” I asked innocently.“Yes.” He chuckled. “I’m sure you have googled her already.”“No, I'm not some crazy woman.” I lied, forcing out a laugh. Unfortunately, my voice came out way higher than I’d have liked. “Besides, why would I Google a professor’s ex-wife?” God I'm such a moron. He laughed again.“Anyway, I better go, I just wanted to say hello. And to reassure you I'm not a psycho.”“You probably think I'm the psycho now.” I moaned, shaking my head. I was going to kill Tom.“You’re not a psycho.” He chuckled. “I think it’s cute. And Emma?”“Yeah?” I squeezed my eyes shut, sure his next comment was going to be another dig.“I like that you have a crush on me.” I groaned again, as his laughter filled my ears. He thought I was cute. Cute was a monkey in a fur coat running around Ikea. I didn't want to be cute. And I was no closer to finding out about him and Claire. He chuckled again before hanging up. I saw Tom peer around the corner.“Come here you bastard!” I growled, stalking toward him.

The one good thing about Lauren finding out her fiance was cheating on her is she was free to act upon the attraction she had with her coworker Marcus.  Though they didn't live in the same state they were working together on project together and would be available to act upon their attraction while he was in the same city.  Marcus could't wait to have Lauren to himself.  He hadn't really liked Kyle and didn't think he was the right man for Lauren.  Thankfully they were going to be able to spend time together without any significant others between them.

I love it when a book has the main characters have instant attraction.  These two had it bad!  It seemed it was all they could do to keep their hands to themselves.  Well...they didn't.  I don't think a more compatible couple was spawned through a work environment.  They had hot sex, hot conversations, and mega attraction.

The question is can their relationship grow into something bigger?  She's in Chicago and he's in Denver.  Who's ever heard of a successful long distance relationship.  Someone would have to move in order to enable them to go further.  Will either of them be willing?
